Principal Scientist

Dr. Shalini Dhyani

Dr. Shalini Dhyani is a Principal Scientist at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), India, with expertise in socio-ecological systems, ecosystem health assessment, and nature-based solutions for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. Her work integrates sustainability science, multi-sectoral restoration, and corporate-community partnerships to build resilient landscapes. She has held leadership roles within IUCN's Commission on Ecosystem Management and served as a lead author for IPBES global and regional assessments, alongside active engagement in national and international technical committees and science outreach.

My research is guided by the belief that resilient futures emerge when ecological science, traditional knowledge, and societal needs are brought together. By understanding ecosystems as living socio-ecological systems, I aim to generate evidence that informs policy, empowers communities, and sustains biodiversity in a changing world.
